A Cunning New Author

Watch out! There is a brand-new author on the scene. And she is awesome. Fans of Janet Evanovich rejoice, because Arditi’s first book, A Cunning Plan, will remind you of Stephanie Plum and her kooky adventures.

1-If your book was a movie, who would play your characters ?

Funnily enough, the one character I struggle most to cast is Sloane, my heroine. As it’s often the case, the people you hold closest are the ones you see less clearly. At first I started with Dree Hemingway in mind but there’s also a little bit of clumsy Cameron Diaz in her.

To complete the female cast, the great Emma Thompson would play Bizzy, Sloane’s mom, and Paige Turco would be Kate Stappleton. For Claudia, her housekeeper/ best friend, I would picture Olivia Wilde in this particular role (see picture).

As for the men in the movie, Ethan Cunning would be a mix of Theo James and Ben Affleck, George Clooney for Tom and Olivier Martinez for Gabriel Varela.

2-If your book was a song, which one would it be ?

It must have been love from Roxette. When Sloane meets Ethan…

3-Places that inspired you ?

London where I’ve been living for the past four years. Especially the Chelsea neighborhood, and Sloane Street which inspired my heroine’s name.

4-Who’s your favorite character in the book ?

Sloane of course ! She’s a total mess. Sweet, insecure yet incredibly stubborn, loving, funny, vulnerable but surprisingly resilient. A kaleidoscope of the many wonderful women I’ve had the chance to cross path with.

5-Literary boyfriend ? (perhaps someone from the book ?)

I have a serious crush on Ethan Cunning ! As his name suggests, he can be deceitful and manipulative but only when the circumstances demand it. He’s also caring and kind, and overprotective of the people he loves. Did I mention he’s terribly sexy ?

6-Teaser for book 2 ?

Sloane’s love life becomes messier than ever with a new contender entering the race : fellow Frenchman and total hottie, Felix Leconte.

AUTHOR BIO

Astrid Arditi was born from a French father and Swedish mother. She lived in Paris and Rome before moving to London with her husband and daughter back in 2013.

After dabbling in journalism, interning at Glamour magazine, and teaching kindergarten, Arditi returned to her first love: writing.

She now splits her time between raising her kids (a brand new baby boy just joined the family) and making up stories.

A Cunning Plan is Arditi’s first published work.
